Loi C-21 (Version anglaise)

Loi C-21 (Version anglaise)

Description

On March 31, 2004, the federal government passed Bill C-21 amending the Criminal Code, introducing a new accountability provision for occupational health and safety.

This law was adopted to make “organizations” and individuals in positions of responsibility accountable when all measures have not been taken to protect the health and safety of workers or any person in an establishment under the employer’s authority.

This law spares no one, and no hierarchical level, by targeting anyone who supervises work or is responsible for a work activity (administrator, manager, team leader, employee, agent, contractor, etc.). It thus obliges the organization to assume responsibility for occupational health and safety.
